Daryl Elliott Green
If you want to enthral your audience with an incredible story of survival from a captivating yet very natural speaker, you must give them TWICESHOT.
At 18, Daryl Elliott Green's love of helping others, adventure and fitness led him to join the Queensland Police.
He had just completed his undergraduate degree and was waiting for promotion to Senior Constable.
On May 1, 2000, Daryl expected a quiet Sunday night shift. But that evening, he would confront every police officers' worst nightmare and his life would change forever. In the line of duty, Daryl was TWICE SHOT in the face and shoulder. His injuries were catastrophic.
He was 27 years old.
For his actions that night, Daryl received a Valour Award, the police service's highest honour for bravery.
Later the Governor-General of Australia Sir Peter Cosgrove bestowed the Group Bravery Citation.
Soon after the shooting, the incident was featured on the ABC's Australian Story 'May Day' episode.
But for Daryl his life was unravelling. He was embarking on a long and harrowing physical, mental and emotional road which nearly defeated him a few times.
Fortuitously, when asked to speak on the shooting for the first time in 2006 so police recruits could benefit from his experience, it was the nascent begining of his professional speaking career and sharing his inspiring story with the world.
Today, under the banner of TWICE SHOT, Daryl inspires audiences with his incredible story of resilience and survival. Learn how Daryl resurrected and transformed his life and hear how he uses his experiences to transform individuals and bullet proof teams, leaders and organisations. Daryl's story shows us that the qualities of bravery, courage and resilience lie within us all.
In 2015, Daryl was awarded the Kerrie Nairn Scholarship by Professional Speakers Australia, a prestigious award bestowed upon a 'rising star' and an emerging speaking talent.
A further defining moment came in 2018 when Daryl was honoured as a Lifeline Ambassador. In this role, he gladly donates his time and energy to raise funds and spread Lifeline's message of hope.
