Rita leverages almost 40 years of extensive experience in the medical and healthcare field to support her simple self-care philosophy. Her robust background includes serving on a trauma flight team, where she performed life-saving measures and navigated complex emergency situations. This professional depth, coupled with her personal journey through significant life challenges and chronic health issues, provides her with a unique understanding of stress and its impact on the body and mind.


As a self-proclaimed "science nerd," Rita draws on her medical background to explain the efficacy of her simple self-care techniques by connecting them to the body’s physiological responses to stress. She developed her methods, detailed in her book Simple Self-Care Saved Me!, from her healthcare experience and personal insights. Retiring from her private massage therapy practice in 2018, Rita now functions as a Simple Self-Care Mentor and Educator, and since 2023, has been a contracted self-care workshop facilitator for AmeriHealth Caritas. Her work empowers individuals and organizations to build resilience and manage stress through practical, achievable strategies.
