Dr. Gasaway is widely considered one of the nation's leading authorities on situational awareness.

For more than 20 years he has helped organizations with practical, immediately actionable best practices to:

Dr. Gasaway served 33 years making decisions in high-stakes environments and has managed thousands of high-risk, highly stressful emergencies and crises.

Based, in part, on his expereince as a firefighter-paramedic, fire chief and emergency commander, he has  developed and shares best practices for how to conduct rapid situational assessements and teaches skils essential for making accurate high-stakes decisions under extremetly stressful conditions.

To enhance his 3 decades of practical, in the trenches, decision making expereince, he conducted doctoral research in cognitive neuroscience to understand how indivuduals and teams develop and maintain situational awareness to improve decision making under stress.

His government consulting and training clients have included: NASA, the US Department of Homeland Security, the US Department of Defense and every branch of the US armed forces including the United States Military Academy and the United States Air Force Academy.

His corporate consulting and training clients clients have included: Exxon/Mobil, Syncrude Oil Refinery, Suncor, Canadian Natural Resources Limited, Nuclear Fuel Services, Georgia Pacific, Babcock & Wilcox, SGL Carbon, Novelis Corporation, Amgen and Eagle Materials Corporation.

More than 500 public safety agencies worldwide have relied on his programs to help their members improve emergency scene safety and high-risk decision making, including the New York City Fire Department, the Los Angeles City and Los Angeles County Fire Departments and fire brigade members from England, the Netherlands, Belgium, Australia, New Zealand, Hong Kong and China.
